Generate Consistent Product Backgrounds Using Reference Images

Maintaining a consistent visual style across your product catalog is key to building a cohesive brand. This workflow shows how to create uniform product backgrounds using reference images — perfect for brands looking to feature their products in the same setting across multiple photos.

What You’ll Need

To get started, you’ll use two reference images:

  1. The product image — the item you want to place.
  2. The background image — the environment you want to use repeatedly (for example, a white sofa setup).

In this example, we’re placing plushies on a white sofa and ensuring every product photo uses that exact same sofa background.

Step 1: Upload Your References

Pass both the product photo and background photo into the Image Generate node. In this example, we’re using Nano Banana as our model.

Use a clear, descriptive prompt such as:

“The plushie is lying on the sofa at the corner.”

Make sure to:

  • Use the same prompt every time for consistent results.
  • Keep the order of input images the same (product first, background second).
  • Ensure your source photos are similar in composition and lighting for the best match.

Step 2: Generate the Base Image

Once you hit Generate, you’ll get a clean, cohesive product photo with your chosen background. This gives you a strong foundation to build additional visuals while maintaining brand consistency.

Step 3: Adjust Camera Angles or Variations

After generating the base image, you can easily create new perspectives. Zoom in on specific details, or re-render the same product in the same environment from a different angle.

To do this, simply pass your generated image back into the Image Generate node with an updated camera prompt — for example, “close-up view” or “side angle.” This allows for a two-step workflow where each output remains visually consistent.

Why This Matters

Consistent backgrounds not only make your product catalog look professional but also build trust and recognition among customers. Whether you’re showcasing apparel, accessories, or home goods, this workflow makes it simple to keep every photo visually aligned — all while saving hours of manual editing.
